What's Missing In OpenZoom?
I have lots of great ideas to work on but always a bit of a struggle to prioritize them smartly. Therefore I ask you, what's missing in the OpenZoom project?

Inappropriate?Hi Daniel, first off, what amazing work! This is a fantastic development for flash. I'm primarily a .Net developer, so please excuse my ignorance. Your components are my first foray into Flex, and despite being a quick learner, I'm sure I'll sound a bit silly at times. One thing I'd love to see is the ability to have multiple image layers. For street maps, custom tile overlays would be wicked. Along with that, variable opacity of layers would be pretty neat too. I'm currently playing with some code to try and get Virtual Earth to work with OpenZoom, so that would definitely be nice once I get the descriptor class working.

Inappropriate?Grant,
Thanks for your feedback. You might be lucky since Jeremy from Ghost Interactive just released his OpenZoom Overlay Extensions. Check out his code to see how this could be done.
I'll try to think about a way to integrate layers declaratively in Flex.
Thanks again,
Daniel
P.S. OpenZoom Dourado is a proof of concept for mapping with OpenZoom.
I’m thankful

Yeah this is great, I'd love to do something like that for my flagthousand project Right now I'm just showing them all at once, but to have layers for each country with the subdivisions would be nice. Japan has several hundred flags all by itself...
I saw on your "baggage" post you had a clickable option, but I think I like this more. -
Inappropriate?Daniel,
Thanks so much! That's pretty awesome. I can't wait to see this continue to develop!

Inappropriate?I noticed that sometimes my image won't load when I click on a link to it, http://www.flagthousand.com/ -- If I hit reload it works usually gets it, any idea why this is happening?
My only other gripe is that if you don't have a scroll wheel, it doesn't work so well. Mighty Mouse my ass.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Tex,
I dig your flag site – well done!
Yeah, I noticed the loading bug too but haven't found out what's causing it so far. However, other sites such as closr.it seem to have that problem, too. My (current uninformed) guess is that it has something to do with Flash Player plugin instantation. Basically, all I do is load the image URL at the beginning (constructor) of the Flash viewer. When I find time, I'll try to reproduce the problem with a minimalistic test case. If you find out more in the meantime, please let me know.
Navigation
Although there are is no default UI in the OpenZoom Nano viewer, you can still use click/shift-click for zooming as well as the context menu and the keyboard. Anything beyond that will have to be custom made. ;)
Cheers,
Daniel
