GigaPan Offline Viewer
View Gigapan pictures off-line. Desktop gigapan now needs internet connection. The idea is to have an image viewer for local pictures. PLUS an stand-alone program (not .AIR).

Inappropriate?Francisco,
Thanks for your suggestions. First of all, technically it's possible to download an entire gigapan and view it offline. However, I do not want to encourage anyone to do it because the file size of certain gigapans can easily exceed hundreds of megabytes, even gigabytes, and it would not be fair to the people behind GigaPan.org to use that much of their precious bandwidth.
However, considering you'd like to view your very own gigapans offline, I suppose you could build a viewer for the tiled image data from the GigaPan stitcher software. I don't have any plans to build such a viewer but since GigaPan Desktop is open source, it shouldn't be to hard to modify it accordingly.
Same goes for the requirement for Adobe AIR: If you don't like it, just recompile the GigaPan Desktop sources with a standalone Flash Player software such as Zinc.
If you have an iPhone or iPod touch, I encourage you to try GigaPan Mobile.
Cheers,
Daniel
